My husband never likes turkey, but last year for Christmas the turkey turned out so that everyone thought it was great. It all happened by accident. The electricity was out, so I fired up the wood cook stove. By candle light, we put the turkey in the oven bag. But since it was dark, I didn't notice it was put in upside down. I followed the normal directions with the cooking bag.
When I took the turkey out of the oven (everyone laughed at the fact that it was upside down), it was the moistest turkey ever. So from now on, my turkeys are always upside down! I hope it works for you!

Cute story and good tip. :) Thanks.
I have always turned my turkeys over on the breast, doesn't look as nice to serve, but who cares. By the time it has cooked enough to fall off the bone I am unable to slice it into nice neat slices.
This is the best way to cook chicken too. When the juices flow down, they are going to the breast instead of the bony back.. Haven't tried it with the turkey though, will have to try to remember for the holiday.
Great tip, just in time for Thanksgiving. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
Well, Good Lord! I'm 78 years old and I'm just now finding out about this? It certainly makes sense. Why haven't any of these great chefs of the world figured this out? I hate turkey because of the dry breast. It has to be swimming in gravy for me to eat it.
Your comment made my Monday! :)
My husband always starts it right side up and then flips it halfway through. The only problem is that you don't get that perfect Norman Rockwell browned turkey but I always carve it before serving so it doesn't matter to me at all.
