The kit I have is by Sunset. It has a "old fashioned" mom rocking a cradle. A verse of the poem is in blue stitches and there is a flower border with other embellishments. I started it 30 years ago for my daughter. I'm now finishing it as she is pregnant! If I can help you out, let me know.
My sister-in-law did this same pattern about 30 years ago for her first born daughter... now her daughter is expecting her first child.. a girl. Sad thing is my sister in law passed away 9 1/2 years ago. I'd like to do this for my niece. Or find it already stitched.
I would love copy of that pattern I cant find mine I did 25 years ago want to make it again Thanks

I completed this particular kit when my nephew was born. That was 33 years ago. He has just recently become a new daddy and I would really appreciate locating this pattern so that I can make another one for his precious new daughter. Can anyone help me?

I don't know the sewing pattern (unfortunately), but I remembered the poem and looked it up and here is the information I could find on it.
Song for a Fifth Child
by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton
"Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
Shes up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shoppings not done and theres nothing for stew
And out in the yard theres a hullabaloo
But Im playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Arent her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
Im rocking my baby and babies dont keep."
I am trying to find the cross stitch pattern for "Babies Don't Keep" but the one with rabbits, bears, a tiger and an elephant. I have nearly finished it, but I have damaged the pattern. Can anyone help me please?
