When I make shepherd's pie, I add a layer of bread filling such as you use to stuff a turkey . This stretches my meal and we all love the taste of bread filling with the hamburg and onion layer, peas layer, mashed potato layer, bread filling layer and another layer of mashed potatoes on top with a little melted butter over top to brown when baked. Delicious!

When I make a shepherd's pie, after meat is browned, I put a can of crream of mushroom soup in with the vegetables and mix well before I put potatoes on it and run through oven. Delicious
