Actually, I have noticed the opposite in my area. I buy mass quantities of school supplies before school starts, when they are on sale. The spiral notebooks that go for a dime right now become 89 cents a piece after August ends.
I just got a bunch of boxes of Crayola brand crayons for .20 a box. They are the 24 ct. I put aside to be used for Christmas or Valentine gifts later.
