Easy Pecan Bark Candy

Christmas is just around the corner, and this is an inexpensive and easy candy recipe. Kids love it! Adults do too. It's a good candy for parties also.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers or Ritz crackers
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 (8 oz.) bag of milk chocolate chips

Directions:

Spread one sleeve of crackers on a baking sheet. Melt 1 stick of butter and 1 cup of brown sugar on medium-low heat until bubbling. Pour evenly over crackers. Bake for 5 minutes on 350 degrees F.

Remove from oven and sprinkle one bag of milk chocolate chips over this; they will melt fast. Spread with the back of a spoon across the crackers. Pop in refrigerator or freezer until set and then break apart. Store in refrigerator.

Servings: Varies
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time: 5 Minutes

Source: The recipe was given to me by a friend and the name of it is Pecan Bark Candy. It does have a "pecan" flavor so I am assuming that is where the name came from.

Where do the pecans come in?

This sounds interesting but why is it called Pecan Bark when there are no pecans called for?

I, too, am wondering about the pecans?

It has a "pecan" flavor to it. Other than that. I have no idea. I just know this is the name of the candy that was given to me by a friend.

I've updated Faye's source in the recipe to explain that there no pecans. I'll have to give this one a try as the holidays approach.
