We have recently purchased a condo which was built in 1990. The kitchen counter tops and cabinets are taupe. Please give suggestions on what wall colors would coordinate well.

What about a light rose or pink color?good luck.
First if you have a window I look for a window treatment that I like. Then pick a color from that. Sometime just a window treatment changes a whole room. Which then saves time & money in the long run. splashs of the color around the room makes a big different.
Think of it like clothing.....taupe is like khaki. What would you wear with khaki? Just about anything! Since you are in Florida, I think a pretty blue would be great or a bright happy green like the tropics. Look at catalogs and websites like Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel and see how they use color.
