Do you soak the bar of soap in the mixture to get it to "melt"? Or do you heat the mixture to get a smooth consistency?
Don't use any bubble bath recipe that calls for bar soap or liquid castile soap. If your water's not "soft" to begin with, it won't make bubbles unless you use enough to "soften" the whole tubful, which can be a huge amount. And if you succeed in making your bath sudsy with actual soap, it'll be a very soapy, grease-cutting bath.
