Use a large bowl. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat until fluffy. Place half the crumbs in a buttered 9x13 inch pan. Spread butter mixture over crumbs. Top with cherry pie filling and cover with Cool Whip that has been whipped together with cream cheese. Sprinkle rest of crumbs on top. Refrigerate overnight and cut in squares to serve.

So you are eating raw eggs in this dessert without cooking them? I don't think that is healthy is it?
I am 59 years old and my hubby is 62 and we have never had a problem with raw eggs, either from the supermarket or the fresh eggs that I buy from a co-worker that has laying hens. I make a dessert similar to this one. We also lick the bowl...BIG licks...more like BITES when we make cookies, cakes, etc. For the holidays we also top uncooked merangue on our home made egg nog. Never, ever had a problem. Our families do the same.
