I found a zippered pillow cover at the dollar store and decided to create something festive for my home. This would also make a nice, inexpensive gift (under $10). If you're handy with a sewing machine, you could make your pillow cover from fabric.
Approximate Time: About 1 hour
Supplies:
- purchased pillow cover
- silk poinsettia bush
- fabric glue
- small jingle bells
- cardboard
- pillow form or fiber fill
- scissors
Instructions:
- Slip a piece of cardboard or several pages of newspaper inside the pillow to keep the glue from seeping through to the back side.
- Cut your poinsettia flowers into individual petals.
<
- Place a row of petals in a circle centered on your pillow form.
- Once you are happy with the placement, proceed to glue the petals in place using fabric glue. Repeat this process until the poinsettia is completely filled in.
- Glue 6-8 small jingles to the center. Set aside to dry completely. When dry, remove cardboard or paper from inside. Insert a pillow form or stuff with fiberfill.
