Scald milk. Pour into large bowl or kettle. Add shortening, sugar and salt. Dissolve yeast in warm water. When milk has cooled to lukewarm temperature add yeast and eggs. Beat well. Add orange rind and 6 cup flour. Beat. Mix remainder of flour with fruit and nuts. Add to mixture. Mix well. Cover.
Let stand in warm place until double in size. Make into 4 round loaves. Bake at 350 F. for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 F. for 30 minutes. Remove from pan. Brush with melted butter.
