Best Dry Cat Food?

Has anyone found a brand and flavor of dry cat food that cats will love to eat? Mine only eat it as a last resort.

Even though I feed mine One Kitten Brand cat food. I know there are much more high quality foods out there. Try the ones that have real meat as a first ingredient. They can tell the corn based ones and the meat by products ones, which they all hate. If truth be told, cats need soft food more than dry food, but the dry food is so much more convenient and mine are hooked on One Kitten because I looked at the ingredients of the rest. I only give them cheap food when we are in a financial crunch and then I supplement it with real meat.

We have fed our cats Blue Buffalo for several years. My oldest cat was getting flakey skin on his back, and this seems to help. They have a sensitive stomach variety, and that's my first choice. They don't always have that in stock, so if I can't find the sensitive stomach, I get something from their Basics line. I just make sure I'm never completely out, so I can mix a little of the new with the old stuff, to help get them adjusted.

We tried Avoderm for a while, hoping that the avocado would help the skin/coat even more, but my cats were not pleased with it. Normally they circle around when I open a new bag and fill the container. But when I poured it in their bowls (some of the Avoderm mixed with Blue Buffalo), they ran up to it all excited, stopped, and looked at me like, "You can't be serious." They had never done that before, with any brand of food. I also noticed that their bowls weren't emptying as quickly. We switched back to Blue Buffalo after that. :-)

I have fed Friskies to my numerous cats for over 20 years and they are all happy and healthy and they all live to be very old. Every single one of them has loved the taste and I've had several people over the years with finicky cats who have asked me for advice and I always tell them to try Friskies. All of their cats have liked it too.

One poster said she sometimes feeds meat to her cat along with the cheaper food but feeding regular meat to your cat does not fulfill its dietary needs, they need some organ meat to get the needed vitamins and minerals (learned that in college) if you want to go that route. But I have had wonderful results just with Friskies alone.

If you have a lot of money then you can try the super expensive food but I doubt you'll find anything that tastes better than Friskies. Good luck to you and your kitty!

My cat loves Purina One which lists chicken as the first ingredient, and brown rice as the second ingredient.

The best quality cat foods are not necessarily going to be the tasiest ones to your cat. Just like people, cats like the junk food more than the healthy stuff!

If money isn't the issue, then try the Blue that someone else mentioned, or Chicken Soup for the Cat. They are both very high quality.

The Kirkland Maintenance brand from Costo is great. Inexpensive, meat is the 1st ingredient, and no grains or fillers. My cats love it.

My kittens are 10 months old and are on Go Cat Kitten; the one with the milk nuggets. It's down all the time (they get wet food twice a day also) and they eat it quite happily.
