Recently I came across a song on an old Bobby Bare CD. The song is called Five Hundred Miles (Away from Home). I think it came from an old TV movie from when I was a kid.
If memory serves, it starred Jim Brown as a prison inmate. I did look up Jim Brown on Wikipedia, but none of the movies listed there ring a bell. There is no "credit" given to a movie on the CD either. Anyone remember this movie? You guys are terrific and I really enjoy this site.
Thank you.

Are the lyrics:
If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blowing 100 miles
Not a shirt on my back not a penny to my name
Lord I can't go back home this 'a way
This a'way, this a' way, this a' way etc.
Lord I'm one lord I'm two lord I'm three Lord I'm four,
If that sounds familiar it's called "500 miles" I think Peter, Paul and Mary covered it.
I'm old I guess> I remember that song and still love it but sad
here is rebas version of it and jerry reeds too
