It depends on the type of countertops. I had cheap countertops in a brown and beige color in my condo and I painted it with Rustoleum paint. I mixed a white and dark blue and got a beautiful blue. It was really pretty and durable. If you decide to do this make sure you keep a little of the mixed paint to do touch ups. Good luck
