I have a 2 yr old English Bulldog who has slept in a cage since we have had her from a puppy. She is house trained but has always wet her bed during the night. We let her out early in the morning. She likes sleeping in her cage as we have tried other options, but nothing seems to work.
I wash her blanket every night, even tried just putting newspaper in her cage. The only time she doesn't wet her bed is when I take everything out of her bed, but then she just scratches in her bed at night and doesn't sleep very well. Can you help?

Mavis, I too am a doggie lover. We have had this problem also. Try this:
1. do not give water to the doggie after say 6 pm.
2. give the doggie one more time to go outside to pee just before bed, etc.
3. If you arise early, go immediately to let the doggie out and praise it for doing it 's biz outside. Always praise your doggie when they do good on anything. Good luck, let me know if this at least helps some.
Those are all good ideas. I have a 2 yr old female silky border collie and from the time she came to us she has peed in her bed and lays in it. We crate trained all the dogs ar night and she's the only one who does this . My other dogs are border collie too. Now her and the one year old sleep out of the crates but on their own beds and yep she still does it.weve tried everything you said , but still does it . I feel resigned to this and it's her quirk. I put plastic bags under her bedding so the pew doesn't get on the wood floor. If anyone has tried something that works let me know. Thanks marsha
I have a 14 yr. old tea cup yorkie that likes to do what every one says, took him to the vet, took blood tests, the vet said every thing was ok, so I started putting pee pads in his bed, out side of his bed also, will not stay in a LOCKED CAGE, but will sleep in it so I put up gates around where he is and him and I work with that!!!! I think some dogs just do that, could be behavior, or just being po po heads, but we all have issues also and they don't get rid of us!!! a dog is your friend and family for life. I hope this helps.
How long is she staying in there? Does she go potty right before bed time? Maybe you could take her water away abput 3-4 hours before bed.
