If you are just wanting a simple checkbook register, you can down load one from from Microsoft office. It is an excel template, so you would have to have excel to do that, but it is real easy and it does the subtracting for you and less chance of errors. Hope this helps.
If you have a business, your personal must be kept separate. You may use QuickBooks for a personal checkbook, but not within your business account. If you have more than 1 user and you are using 1 for business, you may use another for personal. However, there are less expensive alternatives than QuickBooks. Here is a link I found online that may be helpful.
I opened a separate quickbooks company as my personal register. It is completely separate from my business register. I love it! Only downside: I have to keep it upgraded to be able to download my checks into the register. Once you learn the program, it rocks!
