Removing Clay from a Finished Wooden Table?

Does anyone know how to remove clay from a finished wooden table without ruining the finish?

What kind of clay? Try scraping gently with a plastic or nylon pancake turner--the kind suitable for non-stick pans. If it is the non-drying kind of clay for kids, I would then just keep rubbing at the residue with a rag or soft paper towel. If it is the kind that dries, I would (after scraping the excess) rub with a damp towel or paper towel, then dry.
