This is a photo taken in the woods close to the town where I live. It is a short walk from town and very popular at this time of year when the snowdrops are in bloom. A welcome sight after a long winter!

Such a thick carpet of snowdrops; there must be thousands of them!
I never heard of 'snowdrops' before. Can you explain them to me? Thanks.

To tomatohanger, Snowdrops are little white flowers grown from bulbs, they look very delicate but are often seen while there is still frost and snow on the ground, they are the first sign that spring is on the way. Over the years they have spread in the woods and now the ground is carpeted with them.
