Our senior center is having a dinner and barbershop quartet performance in 10 days. I volunteered to decorate the tables. I'm thinking red and white striped fabric somehow and making little mini barber poles with music notes up and down the table. Please give me more ideas or better ones. Thanks

What about using red & white candy canes at each plate, good luck.
This sounds really good, if you can find appropriate material such as this for the tablecloths. Flat sheets maybe? A length of fabric from the fabric store?
If the striped table cloths are difficult to find, use red and white checked ones similar to those in Italian restaurants.
Maybe you could get a flooring/carpet store to give you the round tall cardboard core that flooring material comes from the factory upon.
This core is mounted on those revolving racks so you look at the various patterns in the store.( the store throws these away when all the flooring is gone) Then you could make a real tall barber pole near the area where the singers/ emcee will stand. Or if the store would give you two cardboard cores, you could put one on each side of the door.
( we used these cardboard cores to decorate for vacation Bible School. Take a pickup truck to carry them home. Some flooring is 12 feet wide. We were able to cut them into manageable lengths ha)
Maybe an antique store would allow you to "borrow" a real Barber's Chair for the event?
