Instead of buying pricey, high-calorie dog treats, we give our dogs ice cubes as treats. They love them! The ice cubes are free, zero calories, and help keep the dogs hydrated. They come running every time they hear ice falling into a glass. :)

My friend a few years back started giving her dog ice cubes for treats as he was sickly ( had many issues ) regular treats up set his stomach. So when he was in need of a treat she would press the ice maker on fridge and Buddy would sit and wait. He did not care that it was only an ice cube.
We've been doing this with our various dogs for years, too. Another perk is that gnawing on the ice cubes also helps rinse and scrape tartar off the teeth.
Our vet recently had a new assistant giving our current gal her annual once-over, and she was raving about how more owners should be brushing their dog's teeth the way we must be doing. ROFL!
