This is going to sound strange, but there is an Ed Ames song out there that I am searching for.
You would remember him from Danial Boone and the infamous "tommyhawk" throw on Johnny Carson. But a lot of people don't know he was a wonderful singer.
There was a single that I coveted for a while, but lost in a fire. It went like this:
Here in this room, this narrow room
Where life began when we were young that night
I feel your back pressed close to me
And feel your steady breathing as you sleep
Then as the first soft glow of dawn moves silver gray
Like paint along the wall
I touch your hand, and feel your ring
And know this night is all we'll ever have
Chorus:
Suddenly I look into your sleepy eyes
I hear your name and it just seems to dangle there
Then I feel your fingers running through my mind
Jumbling up my thoughts to leave them tangled there
There is another verse and then the chorus again. It's hauntingly beautiful and I can't find it in any of the music sites. If someone has it, I would be so grateful if I could find out how to get it? Thanks to everyone in advance. Sandi

This is what I found:
Artist: Jim Ed Brown
Song: Morning
Album: The Essential Jim Ed Brown & the Browns
Here in this room this narrow room where life began when we were young last night
I feel your back pressed close to me and hear your steady breathing as you sleep
Then as the first soft glow of dawn moves silver grey like paint along the wall
I touch your hand and feel your ring and know this night is all we'll ever have
Suddenly I look into your sleepy eyes
You breathe my name and it just seems to dangle there
I know so well that this is all there is and when we leave this room it's gone
My mind is clear as we walk down the crooked little steps to the front door
A ray of sun that ricoches from off a rooftop light our stumbling way
I touch your hand and feel your ring and know this night is all we'll ever have
Suddenly I look into your sleepy eyes...
Suddenly I look into your sleepy eyes...
Suddenly I look into your sleepy eyes...
And here is a link to the song (2min 48 sec)

Thank you so much. And to think I couldn't find it because I had the wrong artist! That would have made it simpler, huh?
You guys are the best! PBP
Maybe you could find this on e-bay? People sell lots of things there, perhaps you could find a record of this song.
Lots of luck in your search!

It wasn't Ed Ames either. It was Jim Ed Brown, like FFL said. I have it now and my thanks to him/her. PBP
You are welcome - I love searching through the web for unique items like that.
