I looked in a cook book and it says there is 2 1/2 cups in a pound of brown sugar.
Granulated 2 1/4 cups = 1 lb.
cube sugar 96 to 100 = 1 lb.
Brown sugar (packed) 2 3/4 cups = 1 lb.
Sifted powdered 3 1/2 cups = 1 lb.
16 oz = 1# 8 oz. = 1 cup
So if you go by what Chef4U said you could measure a cup of lead and it would only weigh 8 oz? I think it makes a difference what your measuring.
