I have beige carpet and a navy blue lounge suite. What colour curtains should I look for?

Go blue! Why not? Stay away from royal though, might look odd, ha ha! I'd Choose from the medium light blues, or go with paint and 2" white wood blinds instead of drapes/curtains. You can always add a sheer later if it feels nakey! Start by typing 'blue room' 'blue room decor' 'blue room styles' etc. Into the google bar and clicking images. From the keep a notebook, purse size, with ideas, measurements, color names and brands, and on, and on.
Also, buy a small measuring tape to keep in your purse & measure everything! Add throw pillows and pull a color from them. Ross is great for pillows, I bought 4-45$ over sized, silk, down filled pillows for my sofa/love seat @ 9.99$ each (had to dig though)!
Also when you look at paint, grab any & every swatch that catches your eye, weed, and weed again, until you have ten or so. Tape them up on the wall a few inches apart. Lay them on the couch, carpet, and take notes! It's a big process, but it's a major high when it's all done and beautiful!
Good luck!
I'd blend with the wall color so as not to detract from the navy blue.
I am not a professional decorator, but I learned something from nature. Green is a neutral color. Look around; green grass, green trees. Green goes with everything! Green even goes well with the blue sky, so I think that green is the safest color of all, and not boring like beige or grey.
