My Miniature Eskimo's eye sight has deteriorated. Is this a common problem with this breed ?

They are prone to diabetes, cataracts--and if blue-eyed, also have a tendency toward deafness.
I'd have your vet do a good once-over; if it's diabetes, sometimes treatment can reverse some of the sight problems.
