My purple coneflowers reseeded and I now have a couple hundred seedlings coming up. Do I need to separate them or will they continue to grow the way they are and flower?

Yes, they can be divided. IF the soil is loose enough they can spread, I would leave them where they are. They evidently like where they are now. Otherwise they would not have reseeded so veraciously. You can also divide them by digging up small blocks and planting them wherever you want them. Just be sure to dig them deep enough to get the root. Transplant them to the same depth they were when you dug them up.
