DH came up with a walking leash for night time. And he did so because people are not as careful driving at night through our neighborhood as they used to be. Also with kids riding skateboards and bikes on the sidewalks at night with no lights, it is only common sense, to light your way front and back.
He also put a strap with Velcro on the handle in case he has to scoop Buddy up from an attack.

I purchased a pet safety light from Love-Tags.com. It clips to your pet's collar or leash and serves the same purpose as your lighting system. It has different settings-continuous, blinking and strobe lighting. I like the blinking setting. It is highly visible and the blinking is very noticible to traffic. It has easily replaceable button batteries and turns off with the press of a button.
I absolutely love your idea and the little flashlight will also help canine and human watch their step during the walk :-) Very clever!
