Pattern for a Snood Using Acrylic Yarn?

I am looking for a pattern to make a snood, also called a caul, from yarn for a heavier weight look. After searching the web for hours I have several wonderful patterns for snoods made from "thread" or light ribbons, but none make-up well in yarn (regular acrylic). I prefer crochet patterns, but would also like macrame/knotted ones. I could ask a friend to make it if it requires knitting. Thanks for any help.
