Gift Ideas for Someone Who Likes Fishing?

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I don't know what to get him. He doesn't like sports, but he does like to go fishing. Any ideas?

My first thought was one of those singing fish you hang on the wall. You can probably get one cheap at Ebay.

Plastic worms, good luck.

A hand held fishing scale to weigh caught fish is a good little gift. Walmarts carry them in the sporting goods department for twenty dollars or less. My friend just bought her man friend one for eleven dollars at Walmart, not fancy but it will fit perfectly in a tackle box, which would make another nice gift idea also.

Of course the more you spend the fancier they will be. Some have built in tape measures for measuring the length of fish, as some fish have to be over a certain length to keep.

A subscription to a fishing magazine.

A gift certificate to one of the local sports shops or if you want to spend big bucks. Book him with a fishing boat trip. Maybe you could go in with his buddies on that?

Some of those handwarmers that are one-time use things would be good. It depends on what type of fishing he does, but lures, weights, a thing of really good line which has to be repalaced on a regular basis would be good. A good fishing hat or gloves is another idea. A good fishing knife if he doesnt have one or forceps for pulling out hooks is helpful.

I fish all of the time and those things would be welcomed by me. Or being that it is the beginning of the year and licenses have to be renewed, if he hasnt gotten his license buy it for him.

How about purchasing a small tackle box and adding some hooks, bobbers, weights, small pair of pliers made to remove the hook, a glove to hold the fish or anything else you think he would use.

If you aren't sure what he would use, you could either put a gift certificate in the tackle box so he would have a gift to open or put pictures of lures, big fish, a net you get the idea and so will he.

Depending on how much you are thinking to spend, you could take him to a 'fish' restaurant and have it lined up ahead of time for them to bring out his gift with his meal. Most places are glad to be involved. Have fun.

Since it is the first of the year, you could make arrangements to pay for his 2010 fishing license.
