When you mix vinegar and baking soda, you get salt and water and carbon dioxide. How can that clean silver? Salt water will not clean it.

Do you rinse it off first?

Oh wow thank you so much, I was about to give up on my wedding ring but white vinegar and soda brought it back to its shine. Thanks

Nothing will destroy sterling pieces than this method. My parents were antique dealers and we saw our share of ruined sterling from over zealous cleaning by this method.

Over time, it strips the sterling from the base metal and renders is valueless.
