Wildlife: Uncertain Baby Bird

I happened to be in the right place at the right time to watch several baby birds leave their nest and bravely take flight. This little bird sought safety near my front door. I watched it for a long time but did not disturb it. Its mother lingered nearby until her baby felt courageous enough to fly.
