When using cotton rounds to apply facial toner/astringent (which waste less liquid and exfoliate a bit better than cotton balls), fold it in half (into a half-moon shape) before moistening and using it. You can use the "outer" sides of the half-moon once and depending on how dirty it gets, you can then flip it "inside out" (so the clean side now faces out and makes a fresh, new half-moon) and use it the next day instead of throwing it away with an entire clean side left!

Cotton balls don't absorb the liquid as much as cotton squares or rounds. Cotton squares/rounds do exfoliate better. But, you are risking infection by letting dirty rounds sit around and germs are growing on them. You are not saving anything. Just toss them. Their disposability is why cotton balls or squares are made in the first place. Any break in the skin or zit or irritation and you have a portal of entry for all sorts of dirt and pathogens. It would be better to cut them in half before using them if you need to save the other half.
I am thrifty, but those cotton rounds are are fairly cheap to begin with. I think I'll find other places to save money!
