Christmas Float Ideas: Theme "Centennial Christmas"?

I have been asked to chair the Holiday Lighted Parade Float for a group of kids this year. We'll have kids riding on a flat trailer that is about 8 feet x 18 feet. The theme this year is a "Centennial Christmas" to tie in with the town's 100th anniversary. The parade route is short and it's always cold for the kids on the float, but they love to throw the candy. I would love to hear from you if you have a theme-related idea. We're in a crunch for time, so your ideas are welcomed.
