I don't know how much difference there is between iodine and neat iodine, if any, but I couldn't find anything on the web about neat iodine stains. However, I did find several sites that talked about removing iodine from various materials. Unfortunately, all of the websites I looked at said since iodine contains a dye, it affects the hide of leather or suede on contact and cannot be removed.
I was able to remove iodine from a high grade leather couch 2 hours after the IODINE stain set in with 91% Isopropyl alcohol, diluted with water and a little rubbing. Worked great!
I tried the alcohol method after iodine transferred onto my beige leather seat of my Lexus and it worked GREAT!
It also removed a small blue ink mark of same seat. Thanks.
Hi
My leather chair is not cheap and could not remove the iodine stain off with you you suggested. Anything else I should try?
I had a very expensive purse I spilt idodine on and thought it was ruin. But read how alcohol takes it out and it really works.
