Walk the city. The architecture is fabulous! By walking you can see the canals, flower markets, the "pleins" (squares) with the statues and street cafes. You can sit and order a drink and for a small donation, enjoy the street performers.
Low Cost Things to Do:
The Amsterdam Historic Museum, The Anne Frank House and Rembrant House.
Expensive But Worth It:
The Ryks Museum
Nightlife:
Boom Chicago: All american comedy show complete with dinner.
Inexpensive Lodging:
Lodging is pretty expensive - my son lives there so it was very cheap for us.
Interesting Facts or History:
Amsterdam has a strong link to the East Indies - visit the historic museum to find out how and why.
