I take a 50 mg. magnesium tablet every evening. I started taking it for my heart and then noticed the added benefit. It works without fail.

I have never tried these by have seen them mentioned often in their daily newspaper columns:
Colon cocktail for constipation:
Equal portions of apple sauce, bran and prune juice.

Take 1 to 2 tablespoons each morning. May take up to 10 days to be fully effective.

The recipes above are great for when you really need to sort out the imediate problem. If you are very constipated all the time you need to look at the amount of fibre and fluid you are drinking. In this very hot weather it is easy to forget to replace the fluid you are losing. Linseeds sprinkled on your cereal, raw apple and carrot for snacks will help too.

But please , if this problem is constant have a chat with your Dr. just in case it is a symptom of something that can be treated.

Put petroleum jelly on the opening & push a little up inside. This will soften the stool after a few hours & make it much easier to "go". Also, be sure that you're not dehydrated. Sometimes a big glass of water is enough to help considerably.

This recipe really works. 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup cocoa and 1 cup water. Cook on low heat until peanut butter is melted. Pour in enough oatmeal to make it thick.

Let cool enough to handle and roll into small balls. These can be frozen or refrigerated. Eat 3 balls a day.

If you're system gets clogged, consider what you're eating. Red meat, such as steaks, are difficult to digest. Drink more water (8 ounces per 20 lbs.) each day. Definitely eat more raw / fresh veg and fruit. If eating bread, choose multi-grain. Lastly, my grandmother swore that a pear a day kept her regular.
