That was called the Squire's Pride. The Mish Mash was a tomato based topping with onions and peppers. I really wish you had that recipe!
To the best of my memory the mish mash was the following:
Heat canned tomatoes and add a bit of brown sugar and a little salt. Cook long enough to cook off extra liquid.
NO...that was mushroom mish mash. Was my favorite. Ate it all the time

That is not mushroom mish mash. Not in the Houston TX area. The mushrooms sauteed in sherry with mushroom sauce and cheddar cheese. My very favorite and I ate it every time.
Many thanks, I always ordered this at Steak & Ale, it was my absolute favorite! Now I will make it at home!!!
I have looked for years for Steak and Ale's Mishmash recipe also. Let me know if you tried the one suggested and was it indeed Mishmash? If so please share it with me.

This was exactly what I used to order as the mishmash in mid80s in a Dallas based restaurant!!
I was a cook there, we used the mushroom soup version
In Dallas they had something called MishMash and as I remember there was a topping consisting of chopped tomatoes onion green pepper and it was cool or warm sever over a chopped sirloin patty. Id love to find that recipe. It was in late 70s 80s.

Sirloin patty w heaping helping of fresh chopped tomatos, then generously topped w the finest grated cheddar cheese. Was my favorite @ Steke & Ale in Atlanta.
